2012-2013 Season

WCYO Musicians:

Summer greetings. Hoping you’re all having a marvelous time.

Our 2012 - 2013 is set. Please keep this information sheet as reference during our season. I believe we’re set up for a pretty exciting year, music wise, but we certainly need ‘you’ to make this happen.

Many of these pieces can be heard by going to the Luck’s Music website, hitting ‘Educational,’ then Catalogue search and entering the numbers (#) below in the box on the left labeled: ‘Catalog No.’ Hit ‘enter’ twice on your keypad, and then hit the musical note sign ♪.

Please get back to me, all musicians who will ‘not’ be returning. For those of you who possibly know other musicians, please help us recruit by passing off our information. We can only grow by each others endeavors. Thank you so much for helping to get our word out.

My best to all of you these remaining summer days. Looking forward to seeing you September 12.

              Sincerely, Collin Heade

With Quiet Courage, Larry Daehn, Medium, 4:30’ (youtube),
Larry Daehn dedicated this composition to the memory of his mother. He describes her as a brave woman who raised her family through the hardships of farm life in Wisconsin. Despite the loss of both legs due to diabetes, she lived with nobility and quiet courage. She loved to sing. These qualities are evident in this composition, which was written in the summer of 1995 following Lois Daehn's death. It is a song that is passed between the horns, saxophones, a solo trumpet, percussion, and finally to the full ensemble. Building from a quiet pianissimo to the strength of a fortissimo, it concludes with the gentle chords symbolic of the open Wisconsin farmland and a full and rewarding life. With Quiet Courage was premiered by the U.S. Navy Band in our nation's capital in 1995.

Thine Alabaster Cities Gleam, Jerry Brubaker, (written in reference to Sept. 11, 2001 national tragedy), Medium 4:00‘    Description: A stirring original composition by Jerry Brubaker, this composition was written immediately after our national tragedy in September of 2001. It is subtitled a 'Message of Hope for America'.
